Wagering is expressed as a multiple of the bonus: 35x means the bonus has to be staked thirty-five times over before the balance can be withdrawn. Read the third row twice. Clearing a bonus of 100 at 40x costs roughly 160 in expectation — more than the bonus is worth. Anything above about 30x is, on average, a way to play longer rather than a way to finish ahead. That is not a scandal; it is simply what the published numbers say.
The rules that actually void balances
- Maximum bet while a bonus is active. Exceeding it once is the single most common reason a cleared balance is cancelled. The limit is usually a small fixed amount, and autoplay will happily breach it.
- Game contribution. Slots typically count 100 % towards wagering, table games 10 % or nothing. Playing the wrong category means the turnover does not count, and the clock keeps running.
- The time window. Bonuses expire, often in 7 to 30 days. A requirement you cannot finish in time expires with it.
